Teamwork wins big at the Tenth Elinor Bank Fishing Competition
Second time ’round for Wessex as we take home this year’s spring trout fishing tournament trophy
It was serious fly fishing all day for the Wessex branch team during the 10th Spring Bank Fishing Competition. Organised by the Guild HQ, it was held on Sunday 21st April 2024 at the Elinor Trout Fishery.
The event drew in anglers from the different branches to participate. Under the rules, individual anglers or teams of three could enter. We were there to represent the Wessex branch.
The Wessex team pulls through for an unforgettable trout fishing win
An early morning start and a chilly north-east wind made for a gruelling day, but we powered our way to come out the winning team with 5 fish for 10.25 pounds. And our Graham Spencer was Best Rod with 4 fish for 7.75 pounds.

At Tuesday’s meeting, our hard-hitting team finally had their photo op with their awards.
With the Guild HQ’s next John Watts Competition coming up this August, we’re looking forward to the Wessex team bringing home another win.
Competitions and outings are a big part of our branch activities throughout the year. For all the details, visit our club programme for dates and venues of our other activities.
